Finding My Tribe
Growing up, I frequently felt like I didn't belong. I didn't see the world the same way as my parents, siblings, or classmates. My friends would come and go and I often felt like I never quite connected on a very real level with them. Even my closest friends in high school and I were a crazy combo. Somehow we helped each other through those tough years even though we didn't quite walk to the same beat of the drum.
In college I found two of the dearest friends a girl could have and we survived our years in the dorms together. The adventures we shared were crazy - often requiring us to invoke the "What happens in College stays in College" motto!!
But my whole adult life, I have struggled to find my tribe, that group of people that makes you a better person, supports you when you need it, calls you on your shit, picks you up when you fall. As I have moved all over the country, I have found individuals everywhere that fill a special place in my heart. And yet I still felt like I hadn't found my tribe.
In 2015, I moved to Phoenix and ended up joining an amazing group of women runners. We come in all shapes and sizes. We are beginners and advanced runners. We are early risers and night owls. We are trail runners and road runners. But no matter what, there is always someone who is interested in joining us on whatever crazy adventure we can dream up.
Patience wins out - I FINALLY HAVE FOUND MY TRIBE!!
